James Fahy Design Associates is a full service architecture and engineering firm providing consulting and principal design services in the residential and light commercial markets.

The firm, headed by James Fahy, founder and principle, employs a talented team of registered architects, engineers, residential designers and administrative support. Since our beginning in 1987, our national award-winning residential design team has served builders, developers and home owners in thousands of projects both regionally and nationally.

We provide custom and portfolio design services for both the single family and multi-family markets. Our commitment to innovative state-of-the-art design provides focus to our residential plan service group and portfolio design studio. Our custom home, Shorewater, was honored with the prestigious “Best in American Living Award” (BALA) for one-of-a-kind custom single-family design over 4,000 square feet.

Our multi-family portfolio is continually growing to meet the demands of a diverse, marketplace. Our collection of ranch and multi-level townhomes, garden-style apartment homes and high-density apartment buildings are geared to assist developers in stream lining the design process with market tested designs focused on their specific needs.

Design Services

Our custom home design services include both a creative and personalized touch to meet the individual needs of our clients. Each custom design is developed in a progressive stage from conceptual design, to preliminary/ design development, and finally to construction documents. This process ensures that all options are explored and the final plan is a true reflection of our client’s requests. Additionally, our process allows preliminary cost estimates to be tendered during the design development stage to ensure the project budget is fully understood prior to developing final construction documents.

Townhouse & Multifamily Design Services

Whether we’re designing a market rate rental townhome project or a luxury for sale townhouse community we bring our extensive knowledge of the residential design industry to the table. We believe that our understanding of current lifestyle trends and key features of every thoughtfully designed home are evident in our townhouse designs.

Our extensive in-house portfolio of townhomes and associated construction cost history is of great value as we evaluate design direction for each project with the owner/developer.

Commercial Design

Our Commercial Design Team was initially formed to better serve our residential builder and developer clients as they expanded into other areas of development. As we have grown over the years our commercial team has gained the reputation for providing the same quality of service to commercial clients that made us a leader in the single and multifamily residential design industry.
